In light of the featured region of the month, JAPAN RAIL CAFE held a series of events to introduce the Kansai region to Japan lovers. To kickstart the month, we introduced Osaka’s street food culture! And what better way to immerse in Osaka’s street food culture than through a takopa (タコパ) or takoyaki party? Everyone loves takoyaki!

 

 

 

The session was divided into two parts: 1) a short introductory seminar on Osaka’s street food culture and 2) a DIY takoyaki party. With just a small fee of $10, not only did our Japan lovers get to learn how to make and feast on their own takoyaki balls, they also got to try the cafe’s seasonal drink: Osaka Summer Smoothie Mix! It was indeed an irresistible deal and that was probably why we had more than 40 who turned up. Apologies to those who got turned away!

 

 

It only seemed fitting to have our very own Travel Communicator Chiro to host the session! After all, he was born and raised in Osaka! The natural comedian taught our participants how to make the best takoyaki with the freshest ingredients and fail-proof takoyaki machines by Iwatani that were kindly sponsored by Ramen Dining Suzuki.
