2016.08.10First Pop Up Event at JNTO Japan Travel Fair

On 6th & 7th August (Sat-Sun), the JR team held their first pop-up event to promote the upcoming JAPAN RAIL CAFE which is scheduled to open at Tanjong Pagar Centre at the end of November this year. The pop-up event was held at JCUBE event space, in conjunction with Japan Travel Fair that is organised bi-annually by the Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO) in aim to promote travelling to Japan.

At the travel fair, JAPAN RAIL CAFE managed a booth in a café setting selling rail passes and distributing informative brochures on travelling to Japan. The JR team held a few Scrapbooking Sessions per day over the weekend and it attracted not only Japan lovers who came forward to share their travel experiences but also families living in Jurong East area who brought along their children to enjoy the fun.

Launch of JAPAN RAIL TIMES

As part of the pre-opening publicity for the upcoming JAPAN RAIL CAFE, the JR team distributed JAPAN RAIL TIMES, a monthly publication that serves as an informative newspaper and menu to be distributed at the cafe. The JAPAN RAIL TIMES will feature contents on a different region of Japan every month. For the month of August, JAPAN RAIL CAFE promoted Yamanote Line, a JR train loop line that connects to many sightseeing destinations in Tokyo such as Shibuya.

Stage Event Showcase

The JR team held stage events twice per day introducing the café concept to the public for the first time. The JR team specially invited the FUN!TOKYO! team from JR East Tokyo Branch to promote the less known sightseeing places in Tokyo. The FUN!TOKYO! team brought with them cute Suica penguin goods like huge plush toy and cushion as giveaways to audience who participated for the onstage quizzes.

Apart from introducing Tokyo, the JR team also partnered with JR Kyushu and Aomori Prefectural Office to broadcast a live segment each respectively showcasing the largest shopping mall in Hakata City of Kyushu and the behind-the-scenes of Aomori Nebuta Festival.

The stage programme also included talk segments by special guests from Kki, a Japanese sweets shop in Singapore, and Wasabi Creation, a business networking events company bridging Singapore and Japan.

The 2-day event was a great start for the JR team to make their first round of publicity for JAPAN RAIL CAFE. The JR team would like to express their gratitude to everyone who came to support us as well as JNTO for making JAPAN RAIL CAFE the main highlight of the event!
